My childhood days by Dayrit’s

Don’t you remember this sign? Being a child in the 1970s, Dayrit’s was always a reason to smile whenever we went to Greenhills or Unimart. In Unimart, there’s the fastfood with interplanetary designs on their tables, which is very unforgettable (I must have spent so much time here as a child. I still remember the train ride that goes back and forth for P1.50, hahaha). When I got older, there was Dayrit’s.

This week’s lunch-outs

23 January, 2008 (15:23) | restaurants | By: Arpee

After the Trinoma Food Tour, I just had to sample more of the restaurants i haven’t gone back in a long while. This week, I think I ate more than I had work done. Food is indeed comforting, specially when had in copious amounts, he he.

So without further adieu, allow me to share my gastronomic adventures this past week.

Behold, Amici’s Italian Sausage. I was invited to go out with some office mates on a payday lunch out and the sausages are their bestsellers. Really good! Seen below with mashed potatoes.

My sister has come home

20 January, 2008 (13:48) | Uncategorized | By: Arpee

This week Tess, my sister, came home. It was truly good to see her again, somehow back in her usual form. The tragedy of my Mom’s untimely passing has left us both emotionally in shambles. Somehow work has kept us both too busy to think or do anything stupid. For a change, my sister comes home and lets her hair down while in the company of the only family she has left, me.

She always pays for dinner and for me, it makes the desserts a bit sweeter, the steaks a bit juicier, the pasta, a bit more tender. I decided to bring her to Bonifacio High Street’s New Orleans Restaurant, the one beside Claw Daddy. I wanted her to see how much High Street has changed, and on a Saturday night the place was packed with people. Fortunately, it didn’t take long for us to find a table for five.

As Noreen has posted my picture, I will return the favor. Yes, I had a blast. It was actually more of a food tasting tour. I mean, let’s face it, no one in his right mind can eat at 18 or more restaurants in three hours, right?

The Great Trinoma Food Tour as told by her

There was a lot of pleading involved before I had this picture taken. Bless me for allowing me to take his picture with the Trinoma logo in the background. As it always with blogger events, it took Arpee some prodding and convincing before he got me to sign up for this event. I am always worried about his blood sugar and uric acid problems, which is why I have always been hesitant to let him go to these events ‘unchaperoned’ lest he forget his body has limits. Fortunately, he is fresh from a “gouty” recovery from all the lengua my mom cooked for him during the holidays so he is more conscientious. Thank goodness.
