Summer is the best Razon to eat halo-halo!

I really hated having to bring my car in for repairs. I hate it even more when I have to spend so much money on it. But I would hate it the most if my car would conk out in the middle of EDSA traffic. So to save on a little money, I trooped to Banaue on Valentine’s day and had my car healed of its aches and pains. As a consolation, I treated myself to Razon’s halo-halo and Pancit Luglug. The Kapampangans really know their food.

A Zhu-in for a Chinese New Year feast for two

10 February, 2008 (15:23) | restaurants | By: Arpee

Zhu Chinese Cuisine is a restaurant located at the 32nd cor 5th street Building, Global City, Taguig. I stumbled on this restaurant because I was helping my boss find a restaurant for an office event. Well, Zhu didn’t make the cut because of a last-minute pickle. But that didn’t stop me from going back the next day to try their food. And I didn’t regret it.

In a country where Chinese restaurants are as ubiquitous as jeeps and tricycles, the competition is nothing less than cutthroat. All sorts of gimmicks are employed, from Feng Shui to expensive TV ads, just to grab some loyal customers and gain some new converts. Zhu’s interiors have strong pink and dark brown hues and this has been baffling to me as most Chinese restaurants have the famous red and yellow colors, which is supposed to arouse the appetite. But the interior design has been effective in removing the greasy-spoon image most Chinese restaurants fall prey to. What you get is a classy restaurant with greasy-spoon prices. Quite a delightful surprise to me and Noreen (who paid for the lunch, hehe).

A Japanese treat at Oishiitei

oishiitei

So there I was with my two bosses, hungry as hell and in desperate need of sustenance. We might not have realized it, but our arguments were becoming pointless and downright silly. Ah, it is so hard to think about work when your stomach is throwing a fit and constantly battles for your attention. Apparently, I was not the only one to feel the lunch fever pinch. Boss Direk finally decided to have lunch at the Oishiitei Japanese restaurant, located at the second floor of the building beside HSBC at the Fort.
