Yoga goes the foodie

Ok, so I have been blogging for more than a year (including my one full year with blogspot. l love Google!) and all that time, I felt like every event I went to, I ate like there was no tomorrow. Sometimes I felt like I was a prisoner on death row. Eat today for tomorrow you meet your Maker.

So for a change, I accepted an invitation from the Vinyasa Yoga Center Foundation, care of Jane, the Yogini from Manila. I was given a fresh taste of yoga, which wasn’t so bad. Like Francis, one of the participants, had said, “yoga is a matter of discipline”. True enough, yoga has tremendous health benefits because it relaxes the body as much as it relaxes the mind. See the pictures of how a good health routine it can be.

Seen here is Noreen trying one of the poses.

It does get progressively more difficult, but it’s nothing the body can’t handle.

After all that stretching, yoga teaches you how to relax and clear your mind. Indeed, by the time they turn on the lights, you will feel invigorated and recharged.

yogapio

Proof that yoga works. The instructor, Pio, admitted to being 40-ish. Can you believe that? Judging from his physique, he’d pass for a 20-something fresh graduate. He’s been into yoga for 20+ years. Amazing, isn’t it?

yogaowner

The Vinyasa Yoga Center’s directress, Minna Estrada, is the prettiest 50-year old woman I have ever seen! Put her in a nursing student’s uniform and she’ll easily pass as an intern. Noreen agrees with me. Imagine the shock I felt when she unabashedly and proudly admitted that she was 50. Most women her age are struggling with low bone density, menopause and rheumatism. I swear this woman has the body of a 25-year old! Meeting Miss Minna and Pio have really convinced me that I should get into yoga if I want to be healthy and stay young.

yogafood

After all that stretching, water ain’t gonna cut it. Pio had lovingly prepared vegetarian food for all of us. There was penne in tomato cream sauce (yummy!) and vegetarian hamburger with overflowing iced tea. All the taste without the guilt!
