Christmas comes early to the Philippines! Jollibee reignites the flames of Pinoy altruism by launching the 14th year of Maaga ang Pasko toy drive. Each year Jollibee collects old toys from their generous patrons and gives these to less fortunate children as Christmas gifts. Imagine, your old, but usable, toys will be given to children who will love them as you have when you first got it. Well, true enough, your toys have been neglected for some time now and they feel lonely being in that dark closet all by themselves.

To make it more interesting, Jollibee has inducted the Jollibee toy scouts! Anyone who is willing to give an old (or new) toy to the Maaga ang Pasko program automatically becomes a toy scout! Children from various schools were also there to be inducted as full-fledged Jollibee toy scouts by no less than Aga Muhlach himself.

The program was hosted by my favorites Paolo Abrera and Suzie Entrata-Abrera.  Sara Geronimo graced the occasion and sang with the Mandaluyong Children’s Choir to entertain the new Jollibee toy scouts. Of course, good food was served to the guests and the much-loved Jollibee Chickenjoy was part of the buffet entrees.

So please remember to bring your old toys and books when you visit your favorite Jollibee branch. Be a Jollibee toy scout and help spread the Christmas cheer. Deadline for bringing your toys and books is on December 15, 2008.

In case you have no books or toys to give away, you might consider buying a gift for yourself or loved one. On Wednesday, October 15, Jollibee will start selling the Hug and Share doll. It’s the gift that keeps on giving! If you don’t have old toys to give away, buying one these Hug and Share dolls will also help the less fortunate because part of the P300.00 (US$6.25) you pay for each Hug and Share doll will go to the MaAga ang Pasko fund.

Because there’s nothing more Pinoy than Jollibee.

This is why I love Jollibee, other than them hiring and developing programs for the deaf, they also have these great projects.

Thanks for the heads up! My son has more toys than he needs and now I know where some of them should go.

I was a star scout in my elementary days! Now, I’ll have Julia enlist as a toy scout. She loves Jollibee and she loves kids too. With all the toys hanging around, sharing this to other kids will develop in her a good heart at an early age. Thanks for sharing this wonderful post.

I had a hard time buying the Jollibee doll! I went from one store to another in search of the doll, first saw it the first day it was launched and my officemate bought one in Ayala Convergies branch, she was teasing me to buy na because it might ran out of stock, and she was correct! the following day, I went to the same store where she bought the doll, and it was out of stock na, then I went to Jollibee Insular Life, then to Jollibee along Ayala, then to Glorietta branch, then SM Makati Food court… the doll was sold out! In just one day, all branches in Makati had no more stock of the doll, I was so sad, the following day, I did not go to work… to search for the doll, I went to SM MOA, Baclaran, Jollibee Duty Free, SM Sucat, Jollibee La Huerta, then to Zapote! I told myself I really must have one :) but all the stores in my area no longer have any, so what I did was to get the number of the store and call the branch near my office for a week, and now, finally, after a week of waiting… I have my Jollibee doll :) More power to Jollibee and I love the idea of the Hug and Share doll :) :) :)
