Savory is exactly how this chicken tastes like. Established by the Ting family back in the 1950s, Savory Chicken (lovingly pronounced sah-boo-ree by the older generations) used to be a household name. The brand began to disappear by the late 1990s to early 2000s.

Their chicken is just as delicious as it once was. The secret has always been in the sauce. According to one of their staff, part of the secret recipe for the sauce is that they add peanuts to the sauce. No wonder it tastes great! Unlike other fried chicken sauces that add pork or chicken liver, Savory uses peanuts to enhance the taste.

Savory has branches all over Metro Manila so no need to go Binondo for a taste of the real Savory Fried Chicken. You may want to know that P200.00 (US$4.00) will buy you a full meal complete with drinks.

I tried the branch at SM Mall of Asia and it kind of felt so fast-food. But given the chance to try the chicken from its original Binondo restaurant, I’ll definitely go. Savory Chicken is a classic favorite of my parents. :)

I wonder if it will taste as good with toyo and kamatis. :) I prefer that dip than sauces. Also, how is the chicken when not dipped in the sauce? Is it as savory?

We were on the same wavelength. Masarap ang chicken sa savory sa ever commonwealth. I’ve always thought mas masarap ang chicken nila sa katabi nilang higante. (you know what I am referring to)

to george: i also ate at the mall of asia branch. in fact, these pictures were taken from there. i agree that is kinda fastfood-ish, mainly because the customers have to fall in line just to get seated. the binondo place is indeed better. thanks for visiting my site!

to meikah: in my opinion, the chicken is still wonderful even without the sauce. i’m avoiding peanuts because of my uric acid problem so i ended up eating my portions with ketchup and i was just as happy with it! thanks for dropping by!

to mercy: i will try that branch when i visit the area. it’s a good alternative to you-know-what, hehehe. thanks for the visit, old friend!

Hi Arpee, have you tried Sincerity Fried Chicken in Binondo? Its been a favorite of my family for years now. Probably 1 of the best fried chicken in Manila (even better than the fast food joints in the metro).

to rick: yes i have heard about sincerity chicken and i also heard that their chicken is very good. i actually plan to visit binondo so i can dine there. but during times that i want good fried chicken and can only afford to eat in the nearby malls, Savory is my choice!

my family and I wanted to try the new savory classic in moa, to bring back memories from the good old days. we ordered the fried chicken and lomi soup along with savory tropical cooler iced tea.. but it isnt the same taste as the one we had in escolta a year back!!! it was bland and lacked the “savory” taste we were longing for. we should have known better to eat fast food and expect the same taste.
next time we’ll just go to the old escolta or the other branches maintained by escolta. good thing their quality never deteriorated through out the years.
