F-word’s the word

Director Eric Matti’s new restaurant is called “F-word”. When asked about what the F meant, the chef said that it could be anything pleasant. Family, fantastic, fabulous. It could be a bad F word but after you taste their food, you will run out of expletives to use.

The F-word restaurant is located along C. Palanca Street, Legaspi Village, Makati City. Parking is not a problem because if you can’t find a a parking slot along the street, the restaurant is just a short 5-minute walk from the paid parking area behind the Asian Institute of Management. Pretty safe and convenient, if you ask me. The service? It’s worth the trip.

No, it’s not burned meat. Note that I do not like Calamares (squid rings) but the F-word’s Black Calamares made a believer out of me. It owes it’s color to the squid ink which the chef uses to mix with the batter, which he uses to coat the squid rings before frying. The result? A black piece of battered and deep-fried squid ring that tastes wonderful, even without any sauce. I highly recommend that you try this when you visit the F-word restaurant.

This is what the chef prepared for us. Just so you’d have an idea at their specialties. Another personal favorite is the Potato Leek Arroz Caldo. Incredibly yummy! See the pictures of all the other food items on the menu.

Tamaraw wings are their own version of buffalo wings. Not as big, but they do pack a mean punch, especially for those who like spicy chicken wings!

Hassle-free Gambas or shrimps on skewers. Hassle-free indeed because all you need to do is pop it in your mouth and enjoy. Delish!

F-word has a lot of pasta dishes. Aside from the spaghetti, all their pastas are made fresh, not the kind that you plop into a bowl of boiling water and wait 5 minutes till al dente. The make the ravioli by hand and you can tell from it’s taste that they only use fresh pasta, made by hand and inserted into the pasta cutting machine.

This Hipon Labong Ravioli on Basil Gata Sauce uses coconut milk as a base for the flavorful sauce because it goes well with the shrimp inside the ravioli. A wonderful marriage of tastes indeed.

That’s Thai tinapa (dried fish) on top of the ravioli.

Spaghetti, glorious spaghetti.

Take your pick of the desserts!

A very clean kitchen indeed, and such hardworking chefs!
