Rockepelago: the world’s greatest Pinoy concert
That’s our Secretary of Tourism, Hon. Ace Durano giving us hints on, what could be, the greatest music tourism event in the history of the Philippines.
Throughout 2009, MTV will be featuring Filipino bands who shoot their videos on location in some of the Philippines’ most breathtaking landscapes, pristine white-sand beaches and colorful festivals to give the worldwide viewers a glimpse of how cool Filipino music can be, as well as how beautiful our 7,100 islands are.
Rockepelago promotes everything Filipino and just by watching the videos, anyone is able to help bring in tourists to partake of the famous Filipino hospitality, a trait that we have been known for through the ages. Internet celebrity Happy Slip is just of the many prominent Filipino-Americans supporting this effort.
Rockepelago culminates in the country’s largest concert that will happen sometime in the last quarter of 2009. According to the grapevine, the Department of Tourism is convincing big-name Hollywood-based performers with Filipino ancestry (a lot of them are), to come to the Philippines and perform in this mother-of-all-concerts. Truly, this is something worth visiting the Philippines for!
