Inside the UP Shopping Center is nice hole-in-the-wall Korean restaurant that is perfect for those seeking budget Korean and Japanese food. In my 3 hours of sitting there, I noticed that most of their customers are Korean foreign students. Having worked with a Korean employer for some time, I know enough about them to say that their food is extremely important to them.

The Sicilian Express: fresh Italian food at the OWS

26 February, 2009 (02:19) | restaurants | By: Arpee

sicilian in a bag

The Sicilian Express is now available 24 hours at the One World Square building inside McKinley Hill, Taguig City. So why is this important? Because now, workers in this building/complex have more eating choices. Yes, there have been a slow growth of eating places here and I, being a worker in this building, am so tired of eating burger fast food all the time. Don’t get me wrong, this place is a kind of fast food too, but it’s still something new to the people who work here. Besides, I love pasta and pizza.

I chose to buy their Fettuccine Shrimp. At P195.00 (US$4.06), their pasta is well worth the price. Their  service is fast, the kitchen is clean and the people are very nice. I even unknowingly dropped my ID and one of their staff gave it back to me, along with my piping hot Fettuccine. Not bad! By the way, not only does the pasta taste great, it’s freshly cooked, warm and good enough for two people with moderate diets. So dear OWS officemate, you now have another dining choice. A bit more and there will be no need to go to Market, Market! for lunch.

It’s nice to know that there are good alternatives to fast food dining. Most of the time, I am looking for local restaurants that offer good food at fast food prices, even if at times my search leads to me to some really good carinderias (street eateries). So around midnight of February 21st, 2009, Noreen and I decided to drive out to the Pasay Road area to find delightful sustenance for our grumbling tummies.

Knorr All-in-One Seasoning Mix: Real Sarap indeed!

18 February, 2009 (01:35) | events, home cooking | By: Arpee

UPDATE:  I realize that many of you, my dear readers, are hankering for recipes from Knorr. Thus, I have pasted this link from Knorr so you can download all their recipes for wonderful extraordinary meals with the family. Enjoy!

Knorr’s All-in-One Seasoning Mix aka Real Sarap (translated: real good taste) is the latest craze by homemakers and cooks. What makes it different from all the other seasoning mixes? It contains real herbs and spices and is not totally artificial, unlike most other products. These spices have been touted by Knorr to add real goodness to any dish. So to prove it, Knorr invited friends from the press and the blogging community and prepared a buffet spread that served food cooked with the new Real Sarap. As far as this blogger is concerned, it was all good and Knorr was true to its word. There was nothing special with the dishes they served as one could tell that the dishes were nothing out of the ordinary. However, the seasoning mix did make it taste even better and that’s what I like most about Knorr. Unilever people made sure that good food was within reach by anyone who had a kitchen and basic cooking skills. Indeed, Real Sarap seasoning mix took care of the rest.

Get free Delifrance Macarons!

14 February, 2009 (14:26) | promos | By: Arpee

delifrancemacarons

Who doesn’t love Macarons? But don’t confuse this with macaroons, it’s a different pastry altogether. Macarons are originally French and are basically ganache sandwiched between two thin slice cookie slices. Macaroons, on the other hand, are more English and that the more common varieties have coconut. I’m not saying that one is better-tasting than the other. However, the macarons by Delifrance are more colorful and fun to eat. They are not as common as the macaroons and this gives us all the more reason to grab some for free at Delifrance. Yes, free! If you bought anything worth P350 pesos from Delifrance, don’t forget to present your receipt and they will give you a box of three pieces of delicious Delifrance Macarons, FREE! This promo is from February 12 to 28.
