My Secret Recipe experience

See the smile? Yup, that what Secret Recipe does to you. For three people, we spent a total of P1,223.50 (US$25.49). Not bad considering the food is quite good. I couldn’t say the same for the cakes though.

Though the icing and cream tastes great, the cake itself is kinda “sandy” to the palate. Not as smooth as I was expecting it to be. Noreen’s theory is that the cake may have been made to taste this way to hold the cake because it is multi-layered and the fillings have different textures. Well, that was just a theory. We’re no pastry chefs.

This is their decadent chocolate cake that sells for P120.00 (US$2.50) a slice. The slices are big enough for sharing.

Same price for the white chocolate macadamia.

Noreen says it tastes good, except for the cake’s texture.

The Vietnamese beef noodle soup was really good! Secret Recipe has this promo of P999.00 (US$20.80) which includes two main courses, two salads, two soups, two cakes and two Lavazza coffees. Not bad! One of main course was this deliciously large bowl of Vietnamese beef noodle soup.

Imported ingredients are used for this dish. Anyone who has tasted authentic Vietnamese food would know it’s the real thing.

IMG_2054

Their crunchy chicken salad was spicy and sweet. It’s ok, though nothing fantastic. I’m still hung up over Mario’s salad. Sorry I know it’s biased.

IMG_2060

Servings are big and there were two of these served. Not a bad deal, I think.

IMG_2052

The mushroom soup is excellent. It is one of their bestsellers.

IMG_2050

The pumpkin soup is also very good.

IMG_2064

Noreen had the grilled chicken with mushroom sauce. The chicken was boneless and very tender. It was ok.

IMG_2066

The serving was kinda large and a part of it had to be wrapped for take out. At home, the chicken was still good.

IMG_2065

I also tried one of their specialties, the gourmet pie.

IMG_2056

This pie crust is flaky and delicious. The filling is warm and great-tasting. This is a must-try.

IMG_2059

Please excuse the dirty picture. I enjoyed this pie so much!

And the wonderful Lavazza coffee after the full meal.
