I can't say am a victim of PPLIC but I was once asked to have a 45-minute session with one of their agents named Francis. I like the program but what I didn't like was that they asked you to write on a blank paper your beneficiaries and your signature. I said am impressed with the program and Francis asked my credit card saying that they will check if the credit card company will allow me to transfer fund on their bank...I was sure that time that they can't get any because I already used almost all my limits...When that 6,800 was declined they asked me to sign another authorization letter that they will deduct 3,000+ from my credit card, saying there's no hard in trying and during that time, I got aware of what was happening... They may say it is not a scam because they don't force you to give them your credit card, but am not so sure if I've been hypnotized or not...lesson that I got from this experience was that don't be attracted to whatever free gift they will offer and to the car that they want you to win!

@nette- Arpee is right the issue is not about insurance. I hope you did read the whole trail and not just a part of it. Insurance is good, it's beneficial we can't argue with that, i don't think so there is a single person in this world who will cry and be miserable after knowing he/she is insured.
But when you wake up and realized that you are being deceived there you will feel MISERABLE!

Yes maybe they do not forced us, but their marketing strategy is deceitful. Their intention was for you to buy their plan but why can't they say it directly? Why do they have to lure us with different prizes and freebies? even they, they know that their intention was NOT TO HELP but to gain a customer for them to have their commission. If we help provided we are sincere we will have the right intention and there should be no TIMELINE, there should be no "once in a life time" nor "this is only for today".

No one is "tanga" but of course many were fooled because the thought of insurance was not at the back of our minds, we are yet to build our defenses, we were not prepared and after being presented with all the benefits we can't help but admire it PLUS the dreaded timeline "TODAY", "this is only once in a lifetime"--that is a big DECEPTION! because of that many were convinced to say "YES"

Who are they to say that there is no other time or no other day to invest for our insurance? If their intention is sincere then why are they instilling such thoughts to us? They are putting this precious stone at your right hand and a sand clock at your left hand shouting to grab the stone while there is time because it will only take you this certain amount... they keep on reducing the amount until it is affordable to us,why? because they are not really after us, being insured, they are after our money! Any amount we provided to them, they sure would have a commission--they are NOT A FRIEND who is there to help us secured, they are AGENTS who are there to work, to EARN and to have their COMMISSION!

If we talk about future, security and insurance wouldn't it be better to start it with a concrete plan? to start it with days of planning and researching on what's the best thing to do? and not just by having anyone grab you while you are not on your mind and then starting to feed you with all those exaggerated things? (I say exaggerated because not everything were facts and not all facts were said..selected details were provided for the customers to be lured)

Never say we should be thankful for those agents because they do not think of our future, they only thought of their PRESENT and their quota that they need to meet. No one is really concern with our future other than ourselves and those people dear to us.

Who would enjoy saving for their future but starving/suffering at the present? Some of those people being fooled have their money intended for something else, isn't it too bad that all were already set and planned until these PPLIC agents changed everything???

Mind you--try to ask those agents if they are insured and I am pretty sure they are NOT! (maybe few but definetely not all) because the value of their money is used for the present and is not saved for the FUTURE. I could vividly remember my conversation with one of the agent asking me the amount left in my atm, i said "i have ONLY this amount" and he answered back "oh, that is already very fine, mine is 0".

Even those agents do not exercise those thoughts they are instilling at us because they themselves maybe believed it but intended their money for something else just like any of us--thus they should change their deceptive marketing strategy and avoid surprising and manipulating people!

@nette i don't want to speculate on how they lost their money and how they feel they've been duped because too many people saying the same thing is not exactly coincidence. I've done my part explaining the PPLIC is a legal entity and that the insurance they sell is legitimate. I also went as far as saying that I do know some people who have been happy with the product. But for you to even imply that the people complaining about losing their money is untrue, then you are attacking the very customers of PPLIC who need more explanation and breathing room. Secondly, you do not have the right to dictate how people want to save their hard-earned money.

So the fact that you say that people should even be thankful for the insurance is unfounded. True that insurance is a good thing, but it comes in so many forms depending on how people live their lives. sometimes, sending a nephew or niece to college is a form of insurance. Marrying someone with money is a form of insurance. Nobody has the right to dictate what is the right form of insurance fit for anyone. PPLIC products are there but it is in the freedom of the people to choose ON THEIR OWN VOLITION, not because someone with better education or a gift of gab says so.

Many commenters are missing point here, the original complaint is that the method of selling is deceptive. Saying that you won something or that you will get something, or that a check or credit card is the only acceptable ID, is downright thievery. THAT my friend is the original complaint. if you feel strongly about the people complaining here, then YOU ALSO BE THANKFUL that I have aired the side of the complainants, PPLIC and your side as well. PPLIC's Rod Estrera was not even as condescending as you when he made an appeal to the public and has been one with us in denouncing the deceptive marketing methods of these independent insurance vendors.

Insurance plan is one of the best investments that someone can own..especially those who are working abroad. It is a very good way to save money for the future. For those who complains that they were forced to pay something even if they do not want, it is impossible that you were forced. There is no agent inside forcing you to go to cashier and pay, you agreed to do it that is why it was charged, the cashier even ask first the client and inform about the amount before they charge it, so it is impossible that you do not know that you paid some amount of money. It's simple, if you want the product, take it, if not, then leave their offer. They are in the mall, so it is impossible for them to fool people. They are not hiding in far places that people will not see them after buying the plan. Now, the most important thing people should think, that at the end of it, by getting the insurance plan, it will be them and their family's future that will be secured. They will even be thankful in the future that they met 1 agent in the mall and sold them that plan, not because of it, they should have not been invested something at least for their family. You see how is life now, people just keep on spending, and if there is no force from other people to let them start saving for their future, they will not start doing it, because it is already a human nature, that when it comes to investing something, it is very hard to be convinced, but if it is about shopping, right away, no need to force. We should see how big the help this insurance company is giving us to prepare the future of our families. We should understand first the whole story before we judge them, because the bottom line of this, is everything that they offer is a BIG HELP for every Filipino family, especially those parents who are working hard abroad. Ask yourself, do you have any investment so far that you can be proud of and confident to say, that whatever happens to you now, you family could still have in the future the same beautiful life that they have now? If so, be thankful.

This is around 12:30 - 2:30 pm. Narealize daw nya nasa Bus na lang sya on the way to work tapos may dala syang bag ng Philippine Prudential Life Insurance Company PPLIC. Buti na lang 600+ lang nakuha dahil di pa ata nag uupdate nun yung deposit at wala pa atang laman yung ATM kaya yun lng nakuha. Demonyo tong mga taong to.

@ghee the current predicament of prudential life people is EXACTLY what we want to avoid. if you still believe after the what has been said in the news about the stay order on Prudential life, then that is your decision that this blogger respects. PPLIC made a statement differentiating themselves from Prudential Life. The reality is that insurance is a hit or miss thing in this volatile economy. God help you with your Prudential Wealth Builder Plus. Even at 8.3 Billion, Prudential Life is not paying any of their clients. It is not in the interest of this blogger to see people lose their hard-earned money. However, it is still a prudent measure to think 10 times before forking out any amount of money for insurance premiums to a company already embroiled in many controversies. Be wary, dear readers. As my sister would always say, "wag mo bigyan ng paa ang pera mo."

@gilles i wondered about this myself. i asked the head of PR at PPLIC and I was told that the owner of PPLIC and prudential life are good friends thus the PPLIC owner allowed his friend to use the name prudential for prudential life. not good for PPLIC as they have been suffering the stigma of Prudential Life's erroneous ways.
