Staying at the Malayan Plaza

The Ortigas Business Center is yet another jewel of commerce in Metro Manila. Francisco Ortigas Jr was one of the prime movers of change for Ortigas Center to become the bustling metropolis it is today, and with the fast-paced business community sprouting like mushrooms in the area, there lies the Malayan Plaza smack in the middle of all the action.

Where deals are made and closed, the Malayan Plaza is the place to be, whether it is for business or pleasure.  Basically, I love the rates. They have a large room for 3 to 4 persons  for only 5,500 pesos.  In a location such as Ortigas Center, most hotels in its class charge anywhere between 6,000 to 12,000. At the Malayan Plaza, you can enjoy the same convenience of location and huge savings, especially for those who attend conferences, meetings or just taking a break from the stresses of work.

I personally find the rooms of the Malayan Plaza very homey and comfortable.  It is good to know that the Malayan has continually been renovating their rooms and close to having all their rooms fully renovated with upgrades on their amenities including new LED TV sets and DVD players in every room, plus the brand new kitchen facilities even in their smallest rooms.  When I stayed here I really had a good night’s sleep.

Got kids? No problem. The Malayan Plaza is one of the few hotels that have a large playroom  with toys and books to keep the little ones occupied while being safe and comfortable and can easily be monitored by the adults in the adjoining room.

Dining has also been moved from the restaurant in the ground floor to a plush lounge in the 31st floor.  The breakfast buffet spread is just right, without the the frills of having way too much that it will take hours to decide how eggs should be made. A surprise for me was that there is no line in the breakfast buffet area. Even at 90% occupancy, the spread has been improved that refills are timely that you will always fresh hot food at every turn that will never run out. The breakfast fare is just right for a hearty breakfast that is not too heavy that you want to go back to bed after eating. Food is light, nourishing, healthy and fresh.  There is no lunch or dinner buffet,  food is served ala carte after breakfast.

If you are in Ortigas, come to the Malayan Plaza.  You’ll like it here.
