Happy New Year to everybody! 2009 has been a wonderful year and I am hoping that 2010 will be no different if not better. And for Ling Nam, one of my all-time favorite restaurants, I wish you all the success.

Ling Nam’s Latest for 2010

Aside from the usual fare, there is much to be enjoyed at Ling Nam. In 2010, get ready for their okiam chicken! Chicken that is so good, it can actually rival Sincerity Chicken. Ling Nam recently unveiled their latest branch in Shopwise Commonwealth Ave.  So what makes Ling Nam different from other Chinese fast food restaurants? It’s full service. They give you a menu and you order then food is brought to your table. No waiting in line, no bringing your own tray. Just good service at fastfood prices.

So what do I always order? The Noodles with Beef Sauce. It’s only P120 and it’s really good. All noodles and sauce. Really good. Must try.

What is Okiam Chicken?

Okiam is red fermented bean curd, which is kinda smelly but is really delicious when used as a spice. Ling Nam’s new Okiam Chicken is marinated in okiam then fried with egg. The result, delicious fried chicken that’s so good it needs no sauce. I am very excited with this new offering. As soon as it is available, I will buy a box! I heard the price of one box is somewhere between 250 to 300 pesos.

Notice that their slices are smaller. That’s because it cooks better that way, and because they only fry the chicken upon order, smaller slices also help it cook faster. Though it comes with a sauce, Ling Nam’s Okiam Chicken is best without it. Served piping hot and fast, it goes great with Yang Chow fried or just plain steam rice. Oh and don’t forget the prawn balls too!

Their siomai is very good too!
